The beauty about a playroom is that it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Because it’s never going to stay perfect. Odds are your kids (brace yourself!) will be PLAYING in it.
I did want ours to be fun, comfortable and vibrant.
We converted our storage room above our garage to all things babes.
With plans on having more kids and with Hudson in full on learning (aka running around everywhere ALL THE TIME) mode, we needed to make a (safe) space dedicated for him.
And actually indirectly, US.
It’s been a project in the making – first we (as in hired people) to put up walls/doors to hide the HVAC and digital controls and to also get some ventilation in. We picked out carpet (thought it was more forgiving than wood and could always be replaced) and then Nick and I went to town with paint. And it took a lot of paint. We even painted the three sets of doors! We work well as a team – thankfully.
Once that was done, it was time for the fun part… decorate!
I posted about our inspiration for the project a couple weeks ago and I think we nailed it!
Needless to say, we’re so happy with it and I truly love how it turned out.
It’s a space that’s versatile, colorful and functional. And I didn’t want to give up all the space, especially because we’re bound to collect more things and at his current speed, he needs room to run and kick a ball. We still want to get some floor pillows, hang a world map, install bamboo blinds and possibly more lighting (maybe a sconce or two) but we’re tired! So we’re good for now 🙂
Besides Hudson says “whoaaaaaaaa” every time we open the door…
So to me, that’s a job well done!
Wow! How lucky he is to have such a fun space. The Happy Camper corner is my favorite! Well done.
