Our Full Laundry Room Reveal

It’s one of my favorite places to design. It’s a room that I think gets over looked too often and it should be a beautiful and inspiring space when it comes to do chore like activities.

I’m constantly doing laundry – I feel like pool towels and dish towels are in heavy rotation and my boys wear at least two different outfits a day – any other mamas out there feel me?!

So let me dive into our laundry room and talk about the design and some of my decor elements that help me keep me sane in here:

CABINETRY

We used the same cabinetry that we did in the kitchen, Mid-Contintent Cabinetry in Divinity White. With the natural light in this space, I still wanted it to be bright and airy. We have a tall utility cabinet with outlets for our vacuum and other tall cleaning supplies. I kept a few spaces under the counter open 1) for a large steele canvas rolling hamper (so I can easily roll this back to our master closet and pile all our dirty clothes and linens into it and roll it back and 2) for our pup to have. space for her food and soon to be kennel. I also added some open cubbies up high for baskets and extra cleaning supplies. And lastly, rev-a-shelf makes it easy to customize how you live and since Nick likes to iron, we turned a top drawer into a pull out ironing board – voila!

FLOOR TILE & COUNTER TOPS

I used Cle tile again in the laundry room – it’s from their slate line and I love the rustic and natural color and feel of it. Slate has a bit of an industrial feel which I really like in a laundry room. We did a 90 degree herringbone install in here so you could see the tile a bit more. BIG fan of Cle. And we kept the counters super clean and did a stock white quartz. A little soft scrub from time to time and they will always look brand new.

SINK & FAUCET

We did a whole Kohler suite in our home – it was actually more economical that way to stick to one brand. Kohler has so many amazing products and selections it was fun to customize the different areas. For our laundry we did the porcelain apron front sink in super dark grey. I wanted it to be different from the kitchen and since we do a lot of “dirty” work in here I wanted to do a dark sink. Paired with the matte black Kohler pull down faucet, I think it’s a sleek pair! Highly recommend both.

HARDWARE & LIGHTING

I chose the same Rejuvenation hardware we used in the kitchen but in the oil rubbed bronze finish – which actually looks more black than bronze. It coordinates well with the dark faucet and sink and adds some stark contrast against the cabinetry. I also added a single sconce in between the windows to highlight a piece of art. It adds ambient light when we need it, specifically at night but it also highlights this beautiful canvas.

MILLWORK

I wanted to make the window wall more of a focal point since it’s what you see first coming from either side of the laundry room so we added the vertical shiplap in here as well (painted Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee). The other element that I wanted to be special were the pocket doors. They are 4 lite over panel and we did stain grade since I love the natural look of wood so much. We did a clear stain to match the front door and I think it warms up the space just a bit. Also since we get so much natural light, I wanted glass in the doors to keep the entire space light and bright.

DECOR

I like to keep my decor pretty clean in here but my favorite things to add to a laundry room are 1) art 2) greenery 2) baskets/containers and 4) extra light.
