Our Bedroom Holiday Decor Round Up

We took it a bit further this year and I’m so glad we did

Our bedroom is our sanctuary and when we added the fireplace to the build during construction I always envisioned how magical it would look during the holidays.

This year we added a faux 9′ tree (since our ceiling is vaulted we were able to go pretty big!), some extra garland and a few new brass touches. I also used our Jenni Kayne sheepskin rug for the skirt and love the wintery feel it adds.

I also like wrapping gifts ahead of time and leaving them in here so the kiddos don’t get any ideas.

But what might be the most magical element is the wicker bassinet that I’ve used for both boys which is now out ready for our next babe. I already know what my favorite gift will be this year…

Filled with Gratitude

So much to be thankful for this holiday that I truly don’t know where to begin. So I’m just going to sit back and soak all this amazing stuff up.

wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving!

WYC Designs #Perfectbath4TWO Project Reveal

wrapping up the year with a few finished projects and it feels so good.

This Maitland project #perfectbath4two was an almost empty nest house back when we started February 2021. We took elements from other areas of their home – from shiplap, pattern tile and bronze/crystal door hardware to make sure the renovation felt cohesive and consistent. It’s a high frequency bath when all the kids come back (like Thanksgiving!)

We elevated the vanity to give it a more airy feel with open cubbies for storage baskets and linens. The wall mounted faucets gave us an opportunity to take the counter up and create a wood ledge for additional decor/storage but also to add some warmth.

My clients really like a variety of styles so it was a delicate balance of bringing in texture, warmth but keeping it bright and clean.

I’m so pleased with how this project turned out and truly can’t thank my subs enough! Just in time to host friends and family this holiday season – so I added a little holiday decor.

Falling in Jenni Kayne

I packed a few pieces of Jenni Kayne on our TN mountain trip.

Her simple styles like this Saturday sweatshirt set is cozy, but still elevated and it made being comfortable and warm in the mountain cool air a total cinch!

Plus any excuse to wear these leather lace up boots – I brought them in January too and loved them then. A closet must-have for those who travel.

I also brought her cashmere Fisherman sweater in olive and the Oaks Essentials Cleansing Balm that kept my skin moisturized and supple even in the crisp mountain air.

How To Decorate Your Kitchen on a Budget This Holiday Season

that’s right…

the end of the year always goes by fast, but subtle and simple holiday decor (IMO) should come out as early as you want it and honestly, doesn’t need to break the bank. If anything, decorating for this holiday season should be fun, not stressful.

So I went to my #CharmingChestnut project and added some holiday magic to this sweet kitchen with majority of the decor coming from Target and with an all in budget of $300.

Yep, y’all! It can be done.

All About Our Group Stay At Blackberry Mountain

When we decided to get away for our anniversary trip at the beginning of this year we landed on Blackberry Mountain in Walland, TN. Blackberry Farm has been on NIck’s wish list for awhile and it seemed like the perfect escape back in January to go for a drive, stay in a private cottage and soak up the wintery weather that we hardly ever get. I did a post about here.

So when his 40th birthday started to come around and with me being well, super pregnant, a trip back to TN sounded appealing. This time we rented one of their “mountain homes” and invited our closest friends to join us.

It was certainly a trip all of us won’t forget and we’re already planning our next trip back. With that level of service and still a plethora of activities we just didn’t get back to – the next experience will totally be different. Not to mention the food – it’s truly divine.

About the Outacite House:

pronounced: Oh-ta-sé

We loved our stone cabin, but this mountain home is on a whole other level. The craftsmanship, build quality and attention to detail is just unreal. My design heart almost couldn’t take it. I spent an afternoon photographing and staging and documenting just how special this place is. With 3 bedrooms, 5 baths and a wrap around screened porch it was ideal for our group and loved the outdoor space so much.

What we did:

  • Mixology Class
  • Wine/Cheese Pairing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Clay Shooting
  • Spa
  • Culinary Experience

What we loved about this trip in particular: the time of year. It was the epitome of fall but with mild temps during the day, blue bird skies and cool nights that required a fire and a blanket. The leaves were insane colors of yellow, orange and red and the views at times didn’t even seem real.

Things to check out:

  • Blackberry Farm Tour
  • Whiskey Tasting
  • New Treehouse lodging options
  • Gift shop – for all their pantry items and Blackberry Farm Beer from their local brewery off property.

Tip!

Before you check out, ask for lunches to-go. It’ll be the best way to hold on to your stay and they are really the best kind of lunch.
