Pillow Fever

this post is sponsored by Sewing Down South in partnership with Thomasville but the words and opinions are all my own.

As we continute to work on our guest room (not a lot of guests these days) I’ve been playing with decor and adding and moving things around. Part of the gig? Kinda. I love a space that is constantly evolving… I was just recently gifted these new pillows from SDS fall collection with Thomasville.

I love the Fossil print the most and I love the hand painted print and texture of the fabric. Sewing Down South is such a fun and light hearted brand and I was thrilled they reached out. Who is a big fan!?

All of the pillows from this collection are under $100 with insert! Woo! Craig Conover has this #sewsquad and it’s easy to see why.

Take a peek at his new collection here.

Our Halls Are Decked With A Little Help from Wayfair

this post is sponsored by Wayfair but the thoughts and opinions are my own.

With the new house, our old light set up just wasn’t going to work. We needed to think through how we were going to decorate our house this year and thanks to Wayfair and a $250 giftcard we figured it out pretty quick!

I knew we were going to keep it simple this time. I always envisioned a big large wreath to hang on our doormer as the statement decoration. Wreaths, can be super expensive and the fact I was hoping to find one that is 48″ in diameter I figured would break the bank but Wayfair had a variety to choose from! This Norwood Fir is the perfect focal piece right above the garage is on sale and under $150!

I also ordered some faux holiday swag – typically used for mailboxes and such but I thought they would be perfect to go on our columns with our gas lanterns. They tie around the lantern just right and add just enough sparkle closer to the street.

I love people that go all out, but our new house has a unique elevation being mainly our garage, so I wanted it to have a sweet gingerbread house appeal. Decorating doesn’t need to be stressful or expensive. The boys love the lights and wreath, in particular, lights up the driveway at night for after dark brother races and play sessions.

Overall, I’m SO pleased with the holiday decor this year – Wayfair was nice and quick to ship and it feels good to get this holiday season underway!

Immensely Grateful

almost a whole year in our dream house and with my home boys. It wasn’t the year we planned, but having Nick home more and spending more intentional time at home has been really good for my soul. 2020 has put life in perspective in many many ways and even though a lot of it has been hard and challenging and unpredictable… one thing is certain, I have everything I need and then some.

I hope to really disconnect this week – from clients, work, social media and break out an old fashion camera and totally devour up my kids and family. I have no idea how many Thanksgivings we have left as a family and I’m going to cherish every second of it.

Attention is the rarest and purist form of generosity. – Weil

Let us take a moment to give attention to what means most.

Wishing you and yours a plentiful, healthy and homey Thanksgiving.

A Glimpse Into Our Home Office

when we saw the original plans for this house Nick loved the idea of having a garage apt but using it as a home office space. It’s such a versatile set up since it’s detached from our home and perfectly perched up above our garage set within the trees.

When we moved in Nick just had his table in the center of room, cords everywhere (mind you the pandemic hit in March/April and we moved in early February) so we weren’t exactly set up how we wanted it.

With COVID, like many others, I set up shop in our home office and we both squeezed onto his large wood desk and made it work. Literally.

With my new business though, we needed to really make the space work for both of us. We ordered new desks and chairs from Herman Miller, asked Loloi for their Wynter Rug (I’m obsessed with it!) and then the decor settled in from there.

Our new joint office is dreamy, functional and in some cases inspiring. We have a very handy kitchenette that we use daily, a beverage cooler for all things coffee and water and a bathroom with natural light and on most days a lit candle. As the weather has been nicer we’ve had the doors and windows open, fall playlists streaming through our Sonos speaker and an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I like my cute office buddy.

5 Tips for Hosting An Intimate Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of our most favorite holidays – we love to gather, cook and eat good food together as a family. We get the boys involved in the cooking, we listen to good music and if the weather is nice have the windows open. This year, is a little different and only a few family members are coming over, but I still wanted to plan and prep for a day that will be just as special.

We did a few things that will help take the stress out of the holiday from hosts to guests and I thought I’d share!

1| Gather Outside

We’re so fortunate we have a beautiful courtyard space. We used an old folding table in our garage and tossed our extra gathre tablecloth on it. As folks don’t want to be held up inside, move the meal and party outside. Fresh air is so delightful and kids prefer it anyway.

2| Have A Variety of Seating Options

No hard feelings if you want the comfy couch and throw. Give people the option to sit at the table, across the room or off to the side. We need to give grace and just appreciate the presence we do have, even if it seems a little weird. Make the spaces feel inviting with comfy pillows and blankets if it’s chilly.

3| Simple and Meaningful Table Decor

I used extra holiday garland and faux magnolia blooms that I had around the house. You can also forage through your yard and find some beautiful branches and leaves to add at no cost! I mixed in some brass and ceramic candle holders that provide height and elegance. And to make it personal add photos of people you wish were there or of moments you’re grateful for to the table decor. I also love favors and this year we will be giving everyone mini votives.

4| Support Local

Cooking for a small group and it’s too much to do a full turkey? Totally get it. Lots of local restaurants and businesses are there to help. Pick up some special sides or desserts and take the additional stress away from cooking so you can be present and social. My friends at New General have some delicious options this year.

5| Keep it Casual

It’s going to be different this year – so set the expectation that it’s okay if folks come and go. If it’s just your immediate family and soak up the casual nature of being at home smelling all the goodness and listening to Christmas tunes softly in the background. Soft leather coasters and casual napkins go with the outdoor setting. Plus, cozy sweat sets are absolutely acceptable.
