What I Packed to Mexico

I typically think about what I want to pack a few days in advance. With Hudson not feeling well, I thought less about packing and more about him. I literally packed the night before and I wore everything I packed except for one dress.

There were a few items that were essential for this trip, but for others too!

White & Warren Cashmere Wrap

From chilly airplanes to chilly nights around a fire pit – it’s a perfect travel companion that’s super comfortable, packable and goes with everything.

Everlane Sneakers

Perfect travel shoe, while you race through the airport to catch your connection to excursions when you make it to your destination. Plus, they are super cute.

Marysia One Piece

It’s beautiful and versatile! I have one that’s reversible so it’s two suits in one and goes perfectly with jeans or cut-off shorts when you’re not by the pool or beach.

Sweaters & Henleys

In Mexico it’s chilly in the morning and at night, so I packed a few long sleeve sweaters. Madewell’s cashmere sweater is uber soft and was a great compliment to a suit on an overcast day. The Everlane henley (pictured) is a beautiful color and was easy to toss on.

Hermes Sandals

The first time I actually got to wear these, but I loved them. Dress them up or down – a classic that goes with everything and elevates a casual look instantly!

Felt Hat

I don’t wear a ton of baseball hats, I’ll wear Nick’s from time to time, but this was not easy to travel with, but I wore it almost every day. Perfect for messy beach hair, keeping the sun off my face and it’s instantly chic.

Everlane Travel Tote

I love the camel color so much and the size was perfect. Enough for snacks, toiletries, ipad and water. The nylon material is practical and I’m pretty much obsessed with this bag now.

A variation of sunnies

I loveeee sunglasses – so I brought two.

Straight Leg Jean

A refreshing wash in a classic cut. I wore these almost everyday and the fit is perfect. Also, super affordable! Snag them from Zara for under $100!

Palmer – 11 Months

His last month before the big ONE!

He has the best salute/wave – he puts his little hand in the air every time he sees someone.
On a mission to get anywhere he shouldn’t – fireplace, TV console, bath tub and playroom stairs
Fascinated with opening and closing doors
Everything goes in his mouth – 7 teeth and counting…
Big into balls, balloons and books
Current snack favorite are veggie straws and shredded cheese!
Pulls up on anything and everything
Signs “more” and “all done.”
Will share his food with you if you ask
Has the best belly laugh – tickle spots include his neck, under his arms and his thighs
If you ask him “is that funny?” he’ll do a fake laugh
Loves rough housing with his brother
Can hold his bottle but doesn’t prefer to
Has the bluest eyes and longest lashes and I just stare at him
Doesn’t get much stranger danger
Takes two naps a day and sleeps through the night now like a total champ
Big fan of ELMO, not a fan of being told “no.”

Palmer James,
You have my heart sweet boy. You’re growing up quick and you look so much bigger than you actually are. I’m cherishing every moment with you – breathing you in, smothering you in kisses, and holding you as much as I can. Currently in the midst of planning your first birthday and I can’t believe you. It’s been a wild, fun and incredible 11 months with you, P. Thank you for adding more love to my life than I ever thought was possible

Five

My (not so little) monkey is FIVE!

I mean he’s every bit of five… loves pre-k, becoming quite the gamer, has a weakness for Chipotle, kid’s got a falsetto, legit ambidextrous tendencies (writes left, but throws right) and can ride a bike better than I can.

He has new freckles around his nose and hairy skinny legs and I just marvel at him – he’s growing up before my eyes and turning into this big kid that I just want to hang out with. He’s hysterical and independent and truly a perfect mix of Nick and I. I love our conversations and as of late more relatable moments where we truly share experiences. I can see it in his face and I just want to press pause. He says things like “Mom, you’re the best mom a kid could ask for.” And sometimes I’ll get the “I love you.” out of the blue for no reason at all.

Happy birthday my boy! You changed our world 5 whole years ago. You strapped us into this wild ride and we couldn’t be more grateful. It’s a such an amazing way to kick off a New Year.
You are SO special. I can’t get over how smart, funny and talented you are. I’m amazed by you every single day and I’m so proud I get to be your mom. Thank you for loving us and for taking on the big brother role like such a champ.
You do more for us kid, than you will ever know. Dream big sweet boy and I hope all your wishes come true. But let’s not rush this loosing a tooth thing.
